Hypoallergenic

Keuringsdienst Warenwet (Dutch Food & Drugs Act Inspection Department) states that:

 

When a manufacturer uses the term 'hypoallergenic' on a cosmetic product's label it implies that the product concerned involves a low to zero risk of an allergic reaction when using that product with teh combination of ingredients stated on the label.  When a manufacturer is of good faith he will indeed have tried to select the ingredients so that the risk of an allergic reaction is minimised.

Despite the conscious choice of ingredients it is wrong to assume that allergic reactions never occur to hypoallergenic products. It is possible that some people will have an allergic reaction to a product as every individual is different.  Furthermore the term 'hypoallergenic' has not been legally defined. Anyone can use it for purely commercial arguments. Therefore the term offers no guarantee.

When 'dermatologically tested' is mentioned on a product's label this means that the manufacturer has commissioned dermatologists to perform tests of the individual ingredients on volunteers. The term however does not reveal any information regarding these studies. This often means that the study was also carried out on a small group of volunteers for which the number is too small to produce statistically significant results. If a product is tested on thirty volunteers, none of whom have any reaction, it cannot be ruled out that many people will still have an allergic reaction if the product is introduced to the market. The significance of these types of tests, generally due to inadequate numbers of test subjects, is therefore limited. The term 'dermatologically tested' also has no legal content.

As a result of the previous statement and current testing, instead of thirty volunteers Jia Wei Ginseng Creams can refer to an active study of more than 500 people over a period of time where individuals and/or existing families, including children have stated full satisfaction with the products and no skin reactions after using them.

It has always been Jia Wei Ginseng Creams' objective to actively test both creams before launching them on the professional market.
